The UPPSC PCS exam consists of three stages:

UPPSC PCS Preliminary Exam Pattern –

Here is the UPPSC PCS Prelims Exam Pattern 2024:

• The UPPSC PCS Prelims exam consists of two papers, Paper 1(General Studies I) and Paper 2 (General Studies II (CSAT))
• Both papers are conducted on the same day, and each paper has a duration of two hours.
• Paper 1 consists of 150 multiple-choice questions for 200 marks, and Paper 2 (CSAT) consists of 100 multiple-choice questions for 200 marks.
• The nature of questions in both papers is objective type (MCQs), and there is negative marking for incorrect answers.
• Paper 2 (CSAT) is a qualifying paper, and candidates must obtain a minimum of 33% marks in this paper.
• The UPPSC Prelims exam is meant to serve as a screening test only, and the marks obtained in the exam will not be counted for determining the final order of merit.
• It is mandatory for candidates to take both papers of the preliminary examination.
• The candidates' merit will be evaluated based on their performance in Paper I of the Preliminary Examination.

UPPSC PCS Mains Exam Pattern -

The UPPCS PCS main exam's optional subject has been removed. The proposal to eliminate the optional subject was approved by the government, and two papers would be added in the UPPSC main examination in 2024 in its place. The UPPSC UPPCS major exam pattern is given below:
