SBI Apprentice Examination Pattern 2026
(i) Online Written Test

· Mode of Examination – Online

· Total Number of Sections – 4

· Types of Question –Multiple choice questions (MCQs)

· Exam Duration for Paper – 1 Hour (60 Minutes)

· Language of Question Paper – English & Hindi (Except for the test of General English)

· In addition to English and Hindi, written exam test questions must be set in 13 regional languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, with the exception of the General English test.

· Negative Marking – 0.25 or ¼ for incorrect answer

The candidates must achieve the minimal qualifying marks that the bank will announce. For those who are SC/ST/OBC/PWD, there will be a 5% mark reduction.

(ii) Test of Local Language

Candidates must be skilled in the local language they have chosen (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding) in order to be considered for a position in that state. A language test will be administered as part of the hiring procedure. After passing the online written exam, this test will be given. Candidates who don't pass this test won't be involved in the selection process any longer. Candidates will not be needed to take the language test if they can show proof of having studied the specified chosen local language on their mark sheet or certificate from their 10th or 12th grade. Candidates must pay their own expenses and show up for the test in the local language they have chosen at the center for which they have applied.

(iii) Medical Examination

Candidates who pass all of the above tests must then go through a medical examination. The medical fitness of selected apprentices must be determined in accordance with the demands to the requirements of the place.

SBI Apprentice Exam Pattern 2026 : FAQs

1.What are the subjects in the written exam?
The exam tests you on four subjects: General/Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude.

2.Is there a sectional time limit?
Yes, you are allotted exactly 15 minutes for each section. Once the 15-minute timer for a section expires, you will automatically be moved to the next section and cannot return to the previous one.

3.What is the total duration of the exam?
The total duration of the online written test is 60 minutes (1 hour).

4.How many marks is the exam worth?
The exam has a maximum of 100 marks. Each question carries 1 mark.

5.Is there a negative marking scheme?
Yes, for every wrong answer, 1/4th (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. Unanswered questions carry no negative marking.

6.What is the standard of the exam questions?
The exam is designed at an undergraduate level. The General English section is generally of 10+2 standard, while other sections correspond to basic banking and competitive exam levels.

7.Does the exam include a Computer Awareness section?
Yes, the Reasoning section is officially clubbed with Computer Aptitude (Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude).

8.Is there an interview round?
No, there is no interview. Selection is based solely on the Online Written Examination and a subsequent Local Language Test.

9.What is the Local Language Test?
Candidates who qualify the written exam must appear for a Local Language Test to prove their proficiency. However, candidates who have studied the specified local language in their 10th or 12th standard are typically exempted.
