UPSC CAPF AC Exam Details Overview 2026
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) administered the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) examination annually. This exam is for the Assistant Commandant Job in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
The Union Public Service Commission will conduct a CAPF Written Examination on July 19th, 2026 for recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). The UPSC CAPF AC Examination will be conducted in compliance with the examination guidelines released by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Indian Gazette on July 19th, 2026 .

UPSC CAPF AC Eligibility Criteria 2026
Nationality:
- Candidates for both genders must be Indian citizens.
- However, those having citizenship from Bhutan or Nepal are also qualified to apply.
- Candidates must first get permission from the Central Government in order to apply for this exam.
Age Limit (as on 1st August, 2026):
Minimum Age Limit of UPSC CAPF AC: 20 years
Maximum Age Limit of UPSC CAPF AC: 25 years

Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must hold a Bachelors degree from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be recognised as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification
- During the interview or personality test, candidates with NCC "B"or "C"certificates will be given preference. These qualifications will only be taken into account during the interview and personality test.
Physical Standards:
Candidates must fulfil to the physical and medical standards mentioned in the notice in order to be selected to the Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants), Examination, 2026.

UPSC CAPF AC Selection Procedure 2026
The Selection Procedure/Scheme of the UPSC CAPF AC Exam will be as follows:-
- Written Examination: The written exam, which will be administered by the Union Public Service Commission, will consist of two papers and take place on August 3, 2026. The CAPF Paper I will be 2 Hour duration and CAPF Paper II will be 3 Hour duration
- Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests
Candidates who pass the UPSC CAPF AC written exam will receive a summons for the physical standards and physical efficiency tests as well as the medical standards tests. Candidates who meet the physical requirements will undergo the physical efficiency tests. - Interview/Personality Test: CAPFCandidates who pass the medical standards tests will be invited to an interview and personality test that will be administered by the Union Public Service Commission. 150 marks will be given for the CAPF interview and personality test.
- Final Selection / Merit:The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the CAPF Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.

Three weeks before the start of the exam, the qualified CAPF candidates will receive an e-admission Certificate. Candidates will be able to download the CAPF e-Admission Certificate from the UPSC website [https://www.upsc.gov.in]. No CAPF Admission Certificate on paper will be mailed. The candidate needs to have their RID and date of birth, or roll number, in order to download the CAPF e-Admission Certificate/e-Admit Card.
