OVERVIEW OF UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST (UGC NET) EXAM DETAILS

The National Eligibility Test (NET), also known as UGC NET or NTA-UGC-NET, is an examination conducted by the National Testing Agency on behalf of the University Grants Commission to determine eligibility for the post of assistant professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship award in Indian universities and colleges. Until July 2018, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the UGC NET exam, which the NTA has been conducting since December 2018. The exam is considered one of the hardest exams in India, with a success rate of only 6%.

Some key points about the UGC NET exam are:

  • The exam is conducted twice a year, in the months of June and December.
  • The exam is conducted in online mode, and candidates can choose their exam center.
  • The eligibility criteria for the exam require candidates to have completed their master's degree or be in the final year of their master's program with a minimum of 55% marks.
  • The exam is used to determine eligibility for the post of assistant professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship award in Indian universities and colleges.

Candidates who pass the UGC NET exam are eligible for the post of assistant professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship award in Indian universities and colleges. The exam is considered one of the toughest exams in India, and candidates need to prepare thoroughly to succeed.
