BPSC PCS EXAM OVERVIEW

The Bihar Public Service Commission conducts the Bihar Civil Service examination to fill different vacancies in the General Administrative Department. According to subsection (1) of section 261 of the Government of India Act, 1935, as modified, the Bihar Public Service Commission was established on April 1st, 1949, following its split from the Commission for the States of Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. The Constitution of India was adopted on January 26, 1950, establishing its constitutional standing. According to Article 315 of the Indian Constitution, it is a constitutional body.

The Bihar Public Service Commission initially started operating for the State of Bihar from its Ranchi headquarters. The State Government decided to shift the headquarters of the Commission from Ranchi to Patna and it was finally shifted to Patna on 1st March 1951.
