Personal Interview
Q2. What is the major pattern change introduced in the 2026 Prelims?
Ans: Unlike previous years, Professional Knowledge (PK) has been added as a core section in the Preliminary round. It includes 25 questions worth 50 marks, giving it double the weightage per question.
Q3. What is the structure and duration of the 2026 Prelims?
Ans: The Prelims exam has a total duration of 80 minutes (20 minutes per section).
-
English Language: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
-
Reasoning: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
-
Quantitative Aptitude: 25 Questions (25 Marks)
-
Professional Knowledge: 25 Questions (50 Marks)
-
Total: 100 Questions for 125 Marks.
Q4. Do Prelims marks count toward the final selection merit list?
Ans: No. The Preliminary exam is purely a qualifying gateway. You must clear the individual sectional cut-offs and overall cutoff to reach the Mains, but these marks aren't added to your final score.
Q5. What is the new exam structure for the IBPS SO IT Mains 2026?
Ans: The Main examination has been expanded into a comprehensive multi-section paper. It consists of:
-
Objective Test (125 mins): English (30 Qs), Reasoning (40 Qs), Quantitative Aptitude (30 Qs), and Professional Knowledge (50 Qs / 100 Marks).

Ans: Yes, a negative marking penalty applies to all objective sections in both the Prelims and Mains. For every incorrect answer, 0.25 (1/4th) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. Unattempted questions carry no penalty.
Q8. Which sections determine the final Mains merit score?
Ans: While you must clear the qualifying cut-offs for the English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and Descriptive sections, your actual position on the Mains merit list is primarily determined by your performance in the Professional Knowledge objective section (100 marks).
Q9. What is the weightage breakdown between the Mains exam and the Interview?
Ans: The final combined merit score is calculated using an 80:20 weightage ratio, where 80% weightage is given to the online Main Examination score and 20% is assigned to the Personal Interview.
