The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) admission exam is your ticket to the coveted world of fashion design. Understanding the exam pattern is the first critical step towards passing this exam.

 

The NIFT 2024 entrance exam will be conducted in two stages:

NIFT GENERAL ABILITY TEST (GAT) COMPONENTS FOR ALL UG ANF PG PROGRAMMES

 

i) NIFT Quantitative Ability: This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub-test consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentages, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio Proportion, and Distance.

 

ii) NIFT Communication Ability and English Comprehension: This subtest is aimed at testing the language ability of the candidates in day-to-day communication. It includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one-word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings, comprehend a situation from a given passage etc.

 

iii) NIFT Analytical Ability and Logical Ability: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate’s capacity for inference and logic from the given information and to evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify the given problem and apply reasoning in solving the core issues of the problem. Concepts and practice of creative and lateral thinking are likely to be useful.

 

iv) NIFT General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate’s general knowledge and current affairs. Short-listed candidates from the entrance examination are required to take the Situation Test and Personal Interview as applicable (except B.F.Tech).

 

NIFT SITUATION TEST FOR UG BACHELOR DESIGN PROGRAMMES (B.Des.) 2024

 

The Situation Test for the UG Bachelor Design Programmes (B.Des) in 2024 is a practical examination that assesses a candidate's skills in material handling and creative ability in a given situation with a given set of materials. It is the second stage of the NIFT 2024 entrance exam for the B.Des program. The test is expected to be held in the last week of March 2024 at various NIFT campuses. The Situation Test evaluates candidates on the following criteria:

 

  • Colour scheme
  • Space visualization
  • Construction skill
  • Innovative and creative use of given material
  • The finesse of the model
  • Composition of elements
  • Overall presentation

 

Candidates are not allowed to use any additional or outside material for making the model.  Candidates who attempt to reveal their identify by writing any personal details or placing any identification mark on the model/design/write-up will be 'DISQUALIFIED,' and their final result will not be declared.

 

The Jury will conduct an on-the-spot review of the test. The model will not be saved for future use. They must complete making the model in given time, which helps them perform well in the actual situation test.

 

Candidates are required to make a model using the materials provided and explain their concept in English and No marks will be given for write-up in any other language.

 

NIFT PERSONAL INTERVIEW FOR PG PROGRAMMES 2024

 

The format of the NIFT Personal Interview for PG Programmes in 2024 involves the evaluation of candidates on various parameters by a panel. The interview aims to assess the following:

  • Overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities
