- A flower is a modified shoot where the shoot apical meristem changes into a floral meristem.
- Internodes remain short, and the axis becomes compact.
- Floral appendages form laterally at successive nodes instead of leaves.
- A transformed shoot tip into a flower is always solitary.
- The arrangement of flowers on the floral axis is called inflorescence.
- Two major inflorescence types are defined based on apex development: racemose and cymose.
-Racemose inflorescence has a growing main axis with lateral flowers in acropetal succession.
